Rhodesian Ministry of Internal Affairs flag

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (IntAf for short) was an administrative organization whose purpose was to provide guidance and assistance to the tribes people throughout Rhodesia. With the advent of the bush war, its role gradually changed to include para-military activities and armed protection for African villages. IntAf recruits received military training and became soldiers out of necessity. The IntAf flag was divided into three equal vertical sections, red-khaki-red, with the IntAf badge in black in the centre of the khaki panel. On many of the IntAf flags that survive the central panel has faded to an almost pure white colour, indicating that this shade was not a very suitable choice.  IntAf was disbanded following the independence of Zimbabwe and the establishment of the Zimbabwe National Army in 1980.
